Abstract

1,027,217. Securing windscreen wiper arms on shafts. SWF-SPEZIALFABRIK FUER AUTOZUBEHBOER GUSTAV RAUG.m.b.H. June 19, 1964 [Aug. 31, 1963], No. 25393/64. Heading F2U. A hub 1, to which a windscreen wiper arm 2 is pivotally connected, is locked on an operating shaft 3 by an extension 8 of a tension spring 6 that normally biases the arm 2 against the windscreen and is automatically released when the arm 2 is pivoted away from the windscreen to move the spring 6 through a deadcentre position to a position in which it biases the arm away from the windscreen. As shown, the hub 1 is held on the shaft 3 by a spring latch 5 engaging a groove 4 in the shaft and the extension 8 applies pressure to the latch in the locked position. When the arm is moved away from the windscreen, the extension 8 releases the latch 5 and permits the hub 1 to be pulled off the shaft. In Fig. 3 (not shown), the latch is omitted and the extension of the spring engages the groove in the shaft to lock the hub thereon.
