Abstract

The windscreen wiper arm is securely fitted to the wiper stub by two radially moving locking levers which grip under the raised head of the wiper stub. the free ends of the pivoted locking levers are pressed apart by a hinged, spring loaded lever operated when the wiper arm is pulled off the windscreen, past its windscreen cleaning position, so that the protective cap over the wiper head is pressed back. The locking levers have tags near the centre to rest against the inside wall of the protective cover to brace the levers into the locking position. The system is then fail-safe and secures the wipers even when the main wiper spring is weak.
