Abstract
721,465. Vehicle bodies. TRICO-FOLBERTH, Ltd. March 23, 1953 [Jan. 21, 1952], No. 1676/52. Class 108 (1). A stowage arrangement for a windscreen wiper comprises a channel member 4 pivoted at 5 to end brackets such as 1, on bodywork 3, the wiper arm 7 being adapted to bear against the limbs of the channel member to pivot it into either the open or closed position. The channel member is held when open by a bowed spring 9, and may be kept closed when the wiper is parked by pressure of the arm 7. In a modification the channel is formed in the bodywork and is covered by a pivoted lid 11, Fig. 8, having a pimpled spring 13 adapted to hold the lid open when the wiper is operating, the lid being closed when the wiper arm pushes down on the latch 14. In a further modification, a channel in the bodywork is covered by a lid urged to the closed position by a wire spring, which lid is adapted to open only when the wiper leaves or enters the parking position. The lid is opened to receive the wiper by a cable control moving a coil compression spring, and is opened to release the wiper by decompressing the spring to allow the arm to push up the lid.
