Abstract

797,826. Vehicle sliding roofs. COENEN, W. F. Dec. 3, 1956 [Dec. 3, 1955], No. 36878/56. Class 20(3) [Also in Group XXXII] A sliding roof construction, comprises a slidable panel 21 for a vehicle, wherein at the leading edge of the roof opening 1 an air guiding strip 16 is provided, characterized in that a movable lever 5 mounted beneath the roof is coupled with the air guiding strip 16 as well as with means for fixing the panel in an open position, the arrangement being such that by means of lever 5 the strip 16 is brought from the inoperative into the operative position in which it projects above the roof, while at the time the fixing means are brought into a position in which they fix the open panel, and reversely. Hand lever 5 is centrally secured to a horizontal shaft 3, rotatably mounted in bearings 4, parallel to the leading edge of roof opening, and at each end of shaft 3 is secured a crank 7 having thereon a crank pin 8, a helical spring 9-10 arranged around a rod 22 connects crank pin 8 to one end of arm 11, the other bifurcated end Qf arm 11 engages a rectangular outer end 12 of a horizontal pivot 13 mounted on the sliding panel frame 2. The inner end of pivot 13 is. firmly connected at 14 to rod 15 which carries an air guiding strip 16 and a stop pin 19, the latter engages part 20 of the frame 2, preventing the rubber stop 17 from being moved past abutment 18. Each crank 7 is also connected by rod 23 extending along the roof to a helical tension spring 25 fastened to frame 2, and arranged on the rod between a fixed stop 41 and a slidable block 29 is a helical compression spring 40. The block 29 has a laterally projecting pin 30 engaging the bifurcated end 31 of arm 32, the opposite end of which engages a rectangular pin 34 on the end of pivot 35 the other end of said pivot carries a hooked arm 37 forming a fixing means for the sliding panel.
