Abstract
801,071. Roller - weighting. S K F KUGELLAGERFABRIKEN G. m. b. H. Dec. 5, 1956 [Jan. 4, 1956], No. 37223/56. Class 120(2) Drafting mechanism for textile spinning frames comprises a pivotal weighting arm which carries spring-weighted top drafting rollers and which is provided with a catch mechanism, actuated by means of an operating lever, to retain the weighting arm in operative position, and is characterized in that the operating lever, which is pivotally mounted on the weighting arm in such manner as to be movable towards and away from the top drafting rollers, is also pivotally connected with an auxiliary lever in such manner that when the operating lever is moved in the direction towards the top rollers, the auxiliary lever is moved into position to bear against a stationary member of the drafting mechanism and maintain the drafting mechanism in operative position. The first embodiment (Figs. 1, 2) comprises a stationary bracket 10, a weighting arm 14, which is pivoted at 15 and carries helical weighting springs (not shown) and top rollers 17, and an operating lever 20 which is pivoted on a bolt 21 to the arm 14 and which, in the operative (pressure applying) position of the mechanism, bears on the arm 14 at 22. An auxiliary lever 27 is pivoted on a bolt 26 to the lever 20. One end of a spring 28 is attached to the bolt 21, the other end pressing against a piece 29 of the lever 27, and an intermediate portion of the spring bears on the bolt 26. In the operative position of the mechanism, the lever 27 bears against a bent portion 31 of the bracket 10 and the bolt 26 lies to the right (Fig. 2) of a "dead-centre" line connecting the bolt 21 with the portion 31 and cannot, because of the pressure of the weighting springs move to the other side of said line. If.the lever 20 is turned upward against the action of the weighting springs the bolt 26 crosses the line and the lever 27 is disengaged from the portion 31 and is turned upward by a spring 24. The arm 14, which is then resting under its own weight, may next be raised. To reapply pressure to the arm 14 the lever 20 is turned downward, whereupon the lever 27 bears against the bent-in portion 31 and the bolt 26 is moved, against the influence of the weighting springs, to the right of the "dead-centre" line, with the result that the mechanism is retained in the operative position. In the second embodiment (Fig. 6), an operating lever 36 is pivoted on a bolt 37 to the arm 14 and has pivoted to it on a bolt 39 an auxiliary lever 40 which has a slot 41 the sides of which are slidable on a bolt 42 fixed in the arm 14. A flat spring 45 is attached to the arm 14 and is positioned between the bolts 37, 39. In the operative position the bolt 39 is above the "deadcentre" line between the bolt 37 and a bolt 44 which is in the bracket 10 and against which the lever 40 bears when the mechanism is in the operative position. Upward movement of the lever 36 causes the bolt 39 to cross the line and the lever is disengaged from the bolt 44. The bolt 39 is forced downward by the spring 45.
