Abstract

1,071,838. Windscreen wipers. A. CANDUSSO. May 10, 1966 [May 10, 1965], No. 20562/66. Heading A4F. When not in use the wiper arm(s) 12 and blade(s) 14 of a windscreen wiper system are disposed in a housing 10 at the base of the windscreen 11 and having a lid 15 which is closed by a spring 34 when a switch 23 controlling the wiper motor is moved to its off position. The switch 23 comprises a metal member 26 (Fig. 5, not shown) movably axially and rotatably in an insulating supporting body (24) and having a pin contact (31) projecting radially therefrom. To energize the wiper motor the member (26) is pulled by the driver and rotated to engage the contact (31) with a contact (29), and the pull is applied via a cable 32 to an arm 33 secured to the lid 15 to swing the latter open about its hinge 22. Air for the heating and ventilation system of the vehicle interior may be drawn through slots in the lid 15 and base 16 of the housing 10. Windscreen washer nozzles (not shown) may be located in the housing 10. The windscreen wiper may also be arranged for cleaning the rear window of the vehicle.
