Abstract

734,743. Windscreen deflectors. O'SHEI, W. E. Oct. 15, 1954 [Oct 15, 1953], No. 28466/53. Class 108 (1). A windscreen deflector mechanism comprises a mounting 3 on a bonnet 2, and a deflector plate 4 pivotally mounted between ears 6 against a spring pressed plunger 9 so that the plate 4 may be held erected or flat on the bonnet. The plate 4 is erected by pivoting a lever 13, the spring 10 and plunger 9 exerting an over-centre action on face 5b of the lug 5 when the plate is in this position, and a similar action on face 5a of the lug 5 when the plate is laid flat. The spring 10 is of such strength that it will allow the plate 4 when erected to incline rearwardly to a small extent with increasing wind pressures.
