Abstract

662,246. Observation devices for vehicles. LUCAS. Ltd., J. April 26, 1950 [May 4, 1949], No. 11875/49. Class 103(ii) An observation mirror for a road vehicle comprises the combination of a back part adapted to be secured to the vehicle, a front part adapted to carry or serve as the reflector and angularly movable between two limit positions relatively to the back part, and a resilient strut mounted between the said parts and adapted to retain the front part in either of its limit positions, the strut being fulcrummed on the said front and back parts and being adapted to yield when the front part is moved relatively to the back part. The back part a is formed with lugs g and i. the former to support pivotally the upper edge of the reflector supporting part k and the latter to support pivotally a strut q formed of resilient wire. The strut q is pivoted also on lugs o formed on the rear face of the part k which is extended downwardly to form a finger piece n adapted to engage a lug t, formed from the back part a. when the mirror is moved to the deflected position shown. With the mirror part in its normal position the rear edges of the lugs o engage the back part a. the wire strut q which serves to hold the part k in either position being deflected when the part k is moved from one position to the other.
