905,835. Vehicle headlamps. NOWAK, K., [trading as NOWAK O.H.G. SPEZIALFABRIK FUR HOCHVAKUUM-UND ELEKTROTECHNIK ING. KARL]. Nov. 20, 1959 [Dec. 3, 1958], No. 39448/59. Class 39 (2). A vehicle headlamp comprises a main filament 3 for distant illumination and an auxiliary filament 5 which is operable independently of the main filament, the two filaments being above a screen 4 which obscures the lower part of the reflector 1 relatively to the filaments and which has upwardly - directed side edges which determine the configuration of the zones of direct and indirect illumination of the headlamp and the main filament being of bowed form and being located forwardly of the focus 2 of the reflector with the intermediate portion or apex directed rearwardly towards the focus, the remaining portions of the main filament and the auxiliary filament being located forwardly of the intermediate portion or apex of the main filament. The filaments are mounted above the horizontal medial plane of the reflector and both may have a bowed form. The filaments 3, 5, or 3<SP>1</SP>, 5<SP>1</SP> may be mounted to extend horizontally or inclined at an angle. The screen, 4, 4<SP>1</SP>, may be rectilinear or curved and may be symmetrically arranged with respect to the filaments or set at an angle.
