Abstract

566,714. Windscreen wipers. TRICO PRODUCTS CORPORATION. Aug. 3, 1943, No. 12518. Convention date, Sept. 17, 1942. [Class 138 (i)] In a windscreen wiper of the kind in which an extensible section 20, to which the bladecarrying member 22 is attached, is adjustably secured to a channelled section 13 connected to the drive-shaft 12 by-a latch 38, the parts 20, 13 are secured together in the adjusted position by means of a pivoted resilient lever arm 28 which has a part 32 bent away from the part 31. The part 31 is pressed against the section 20 by means of a spring 37 which engages the latch 38 as well as the end of the arm 28 when this end is passed through keeper members 34. In adjusting the device, the arm 28 is moved about the pivotal connection of a hook 29 on the arm about in-turned end portions 33 of the side walls of section 13 to assume a position shown by dotted lines 40, Fig. 1. The section 20 is then moved to the required position and the arm 28 is moved clockwise so as to bring the part 31 against the section 13, then outwardly to a position shown by lines 41, and finally inwardly so as to engage the keeper members 34. The part 31 acts as a brake shoe and may be so arranged as to engage the section 13 with line contact. The angle of the blade can be adjusted about the axis of a screw 24, Fig. 4, which presses the holder 22 against a disc 27 secured to the section 20, a lock-washer 26 being interposed between the parts 22, 27.
