Abstract
853,564. Axial-flow fans. BROWN, R. W., and ENGINEERING ARTS Ltd. May 19, 1959 [July 17, 1958], No. 22915/58. Class 110 (1). In an axial flow fan, the impeller blades have their roots clamped in recesses in the runner hub of the fan by means of U-bolts passed through apertures provided at each side of said recesses. A runner hub 10 of a fan has recesses 15 in a raised periphery 14, each recess accommodating a root portion 16a of a blade. The blade root has a flange 16b which fits over the raised periphery thereby providing constraint against centrifugal force when running. U-bolts 19, Fig. 3, clamp the blade root in position when nuts 20 are tightened and washers 21 are used for balancing the rotor. The blade angle may be adjusted by temporarily backing-off the nuts.
