660,383. Compressor and like blades. BOYD, W., ANDERSON, G. E., and ROE, CANADA, Ltd., A. V. Feb. 15, 1950 [Feb. 23, 1949], No. 4925/49. Class 110(iii) In an axial-flow compressor or the like in which the blade roots are mounted in slots in the blade-supporting members, a coating of a thermosetting plastic is applied to the registering faces of either the slots or roots, or to both slots and roots. The roots of the blade are then inserted in the slots and the supporting members and blades are subjected to heat until the plastic is cured. The plastic 19 may be organosilicon polymer and the thickness between 0.0005 inch and 0.005 inch. The blade roots 11 are of dovetail section and fit into correspondingly-shaped slots 16 in the blade ring 12. The blade rings are supported in the casing 13 by spacer rings 14 which are secured by bolts 15, the blade rings and spacer rings being suitably stepped.
