Abstract

1,089,297. Injection moulding rotor; blades. DOWTY HYDRAULIC UNITS Ltd; Sept. 28, 1964 [Oct. 1, 1963], No.38704/63... Heading B5A [Also in Divisions B7 and F1] The rotor of a fan, air turbine or aircraft propeller comprises a steel hub structure 14, 15 and a reinforcement frame 19 within each rotor blade, the hub structure and reinforcement frames being encased in an integral hub cover and blade sheathing structure 21 of resilient plastics material formed by injection moulding. Each reinforcement frame 19, comprising bars 20 carried by a backbone member 18 of spring steel, is accurately located within the mould by an extension (not shown) of the member 18, the extensions being cut from the tips of the blades after moulding. Additional location may be provided by wires interconnecting the ends of the bars 20.
