[Also in Division F2] A blade 2 for either a marine, or aircraft, screw-propeller or a helicopter lifting-rotor is hollow and has perforations 7 or slots in the leading surface so that owing to an opening 9 at the tip fluid in the boundary layer is sucked away by centrifugal action. Optionally, either the blade is curved longitudinally in a direction opposite to the axial thrust produced by the propeller, or rotor, or fins are provided in the opening 9 such that additional axial-thrust is developed in exchange for energy in the fluid approaching the opening.
