Abstract

1357713 Turbine blades BROWN BOVERISULZER TURBOMACHINERY Ltd 17 Jan 1973 [18 Jan 1972] 2480/73 Heading FIT A gas turbine rotor blade has a cooling air duct 9 extending along leading edge 10, terminating in a trough 11 formed in the blade tip and having an air outlet on the convex side adjacent trailing edge 17. Additional ducts 15, 16 separated by partition 18 direct cooling air from root chamber 8 to exits 19, 20 respectively either immediately at trailing edge 17 or on one or other side thereof. Exits 19, 20 are provided with restrictors and guides 21, 22. Ducts 15, 16 may be finned. In a modification, Figs. 5 to 7 (not shown) duct 16 is not provided but duct 15 incorporates a reversal through 180 degrees at the blade tip to form a second part (25) which extends back towards the root and has trailing edge exits 19.
