Abstract

Headings FIG and FIT, [Also in Division B7] A bladed turbine or like axial flow machine rotor comprises blades radially mounted on a mounting member, each blade having at least two axially spaced radially extending root portions axially aligned with and attached to at least two axially spaced radially extending flanges provided on the mounting member. An axial flow compressor rotor blades 13 is mounted by axially spaced root portions 30, 31 engaging in corresponding dove tail or fir-tree slots 24, 25 in spaced flanges 22, 23 on the rotor disc 20. The blade is retained axially by a segmental annular plate 32, Fig. 2, or, in a modification, Fig. 3, by a metal strip 38 extending through opposite slots 24, 25 and bent over at 36, 37. The blade 13 or rotor 20 may be made of fibre reinforced synthetic resin material. In the case of a turbine blade, cooling air may be supplied to the channel 40 and segmental plates 32 provided on either side of the blade to prevent cooling air leakage.
