844,645. Tubular heat exchangers. LICENCIA TALALMANIJOKAT ERTEKESITO VALLALAT. July 15, 1957 [July 13, 1956], No. 22402/57. Class 64(3) In a heat exchanger tube bank consisting of adjacent groups of tubes wherein the internal fluid flows in opposite directions through neighbouring tube groups 6, 7 and wherein transverse fins 2 provide thermally conductive connections between the tubes of the bank, at least the fin portions extending between such tube groups have incisions formed therein for interrupting the thermally conductive connections and hence preventing heat flow between these tubes through the fins. The fins may be subdivided by slitting, into narrow strips 5 in the manner indicated and some of these strips may be extended as shown at 4 to constitute the aforementioned incisions, or separate incisions may be provided as shown at 3. In a further form decribed (Fig. 7, not shown), in which the fins are again divided into narrow strips, the tubes of neighbouring groups are relatively staggered and those slits located between such tube groups constitute the incisions.
