Class 64(3) A heat exchanger comprises tubes 1 with fins 2, there being strips 3, 4, and 5 which are pressed out from the fins to different depths as shown in Fig. 3. The strips may be of different widths, but have parallel sides. An exchanger. having a number of rows of tubes is described, the tubes of adjacent rows being staggered and the pressings being made in such a way that pipes which lie directly behind each other in the direction of flow are connected by a strip of metal. In a modification (see Fig. 7) the fins are in the form of cylindrical rods, the cross-sections of adjacent ones of which vary in the direction of fluid flow.
