Abstract

1278308 Heat exchangers DAIMLER-BENZ AG 3 Nov 1969 53790/69 Heading F4S In a heat exchanger comprising a plurality of tubes 2 disposed in parallel spaced apart planes within a casing 1, the tubes have flattened rectangular ends which together with spacing strips 6 are received in apertures at opposite sides of the casing. The strips 6 are provided with slots 7 to engage flanges 8 formed in the casing adjacent the tube ends. One heat exchange fluid flows through the tubes, and the other flows over the tubes in a general countercurrent direction entering the casing through inlet 3 and leaving through outlet 4. In an alternative embodiment (Fig. 3, not shown) the tubes in adjacent planes are staggered with respect to one another. The heat exchanger may be of curved construction (Fig. 4, not shown) and surround a turbine (14).
