Abstract

1,017,246. Finned tube heat exchangers. FORD MOTOR CO. Ltd. Sept. 3, 1964 [Sept. 4, 1963], No. 34881/63. Heading F4S. Heat exchange tubes 3 are provided with fins 7 spaced apart along their length thereby defining air passages, the fin area between the tubes being louvred to render the air turbulent, half the louvres facing one direction and half the opposite direction. The fins, made of brass, copper or tinned steel, are soldered to the tubes by way of upturned flanges 11. The tubes are arranged in rows A, B, C which may be aligned, staggered or slightly offset. Between each row of tubes the fins are ribbed as at 19 to provide a certain amount of bending strength.
