Abstract
1,175,157. Tubular heat exchangers. E. KREISELMAIER. 15 March, 1967 [19 March, 1966], No. 12089/67. Heading F4S. Coolant tubes 14 in a surface condenser have their ends secured in tube plates 11 and on the face of each tube plate adjacent the tube ends is provided a layer 12 of plastics material, said layer having apertures therein corresponding to the tubes and each aperture being shaped to provide a flared entry or exit port 13 for the fluid passing through the tubes. As shown, the plastics layer preferably extends to the inside edge of the tube ends. The arrangement is intended to prevent corrosion or erosion of the tube plate by the tube-side fluid.
