Class 64(3) A heat exchanger comprises a plurality of tubes 1 arranged side by side and spaced apart from each other by means permitting the tubes to be secured together in the desired spaced relation, open ended cross ducts 2 extending across the interior of the tubes 1, whereby a fluid passing over the tubes 1 flows also through the cross ducts 2. In the form shown the tubes 1 are of rectangular cross-section and have flanged end portions 3 whereby neighbouring tubes of a group may be bolted together at their ends (Fig. 2, not shown). Some or all of the tubes 1 may be externally finned or may have external grooves 7 to increase their surface area. The cross tubes 2 may also have internal and/or external fins.
