842,164. Universal joints. CHIERICHETTI, L., and BUCCI, A. June 17, 1957, No. 19050/57. Class 80 (2). In a universal joint member, members 2, 21 with radial cavities 3, 3<SP>1</SP> for receiving the pins 41 of a central spider 4 are force-fitted into holes in the ends of members 1, 11 adapted to be coupled to the shaft ends. Between these members 2, 21 the end faces of the members 1, 11 are provided with semi-spherical cavities 6, 61 into which the ends of the opposite members 2, 2<SP>1</SP> can enter on angular misalignment of the shafts. Needle bearings 5 are preferably provided for the pins 4<SP>1</SP> and lubricating holes 7 closed by spring-loaded balls 8 open into chambers beyond the ends of the pins.
