Abstract

828,232. Universal joints. INA-ROULEMENTS S. A R.L., [trading as SAAR-NADELLAGER G.m.b.H.]. Oct. 22, 1956 [Oct. 21, 1955], No. 32153/56. Class 80 (2). [Also in Group XXXIV] In a universal joint, a needle roller axial thrust bearing 6 is interposed between the end surface of each arm of the cross 1 and the inner surface 8 of the corresponding yoke member. The needles are guided in a plane cage 7. Each arm is supported radially by needles 3, which bear with their ends 9, which are directed towards the axis of the cross, against a sealing- ring 10, and their opposite ends bear against the wall 11 of the cage 7. In order to ensure lubrication of the needle roller bearing, a central lubricant bore 4 is provided and the needle roller cage 7 comprises grooves 12 directed from the centre 13 of the cage to its outer periphery 14.
