[Class 80 (ii)] [Also in Group XXXIV] In a universal joint embodying a cross member 35 with four trunnions 36, each trunnion engages cylindrical rollers 37 in a ball member 26. carried in a recess in a yoke arm 15, 16, on the driving and driven shafts. Each recess comprises a cylindrical portion 21 with a spherical or conical base 18, the ball being held in place by a part spherical cap 50. Each ball is in two parts 27, 28, the former having a through bore 29 and the latter having a cylindrical part 30 tightly fitting part of the bore 29. - At the inner end of each bearing is a wear ring 62 and packing ring 66. Lubricant cavities 40, 41 are formed in the ball 26 and trunnion 36 respectively.
