Class 98(2) In an apparatus for feeding a roll film on to a developing reel, resilient fingers on a pivotally mounted frame engage the roll and guide the film and backing paper to a slot in the frame from which the latter is withdrawn manually to effect feeding. As shown, a roll 38 of film is rotatably mounted in a frame 31 pivoted to a frame 24 which is releasably pivoted at 22 to stand 20 and frame 31 is held by catch 40 against the downward spring pressure of two pairs of resilient arms 41 and 45. As the backing paper P is pulled through slot 43, the film is fed into a developing reel axially secured in cradle 5 by means of a spring urged arm having a friction pad (Fig. 1, not shown). Blade 44 severs the member connecting the backing paper to the trailing end of the film. Cradle 5 is laterally adjustable by lever 47 so as to align a pair of guides 42 with the flanges of the developing reel. In a modification of frame 24 (Fig. 5, not shown) the intermediate frame 31 is omitted and the film spool is mounted directly on part 29. Frame 24 may be removed from stand 20 and replaced by a cassette holder (Fig. 6, not shown) which can be oscillated to feed the film on to the reel. In another form, frame 24 may be pivotally mounted in a daylight developing tank and the backing paper may be withdrawn from the tank through a light-trapped slot or, according to the Provisional Specification, the backing paper may be wound on an externally rotatable spool within the tank.
