872,498. Applying adhesive tape. KODAK Ltd. May 3, 1960 [May 8, 1959], No. 15965/59. Class 73. Relates to a device for stripping the protective backing strip from the adhesive surface of a strip of tape wound on a spool and for mounting the stripped tape on a card. The device comprises a supply spindle 5 for receiving the spool 4 and a roller 19 over which the tape and backing are passed, the tape 7 alone then passing between a roller 20 and spring-urged, pressure roller 27 and is thus fed to a mounting board 2 for application to a card mounted thereon. The roller 20 is geared to the roller 19 so that it rotates at a faster rate than the roller 19 to facilitate separation of the tape 7 from the backing strip 8 which passes from the roller 19 over an idler roller 15 to a take7.up spool 33. The spool 33 is rotatable to wind up the backing and to draw the backed tape from the supply spool 4. An idler roller 14 is interposed between the supply spool 4 and roller 19. The tape 7 is cut into required lengths by means of a fixed cutter blade 43 and a cutter blade 36 secured to a block 37 slidably mounted on a rod 38.
