Abstract

839,742. Moulding pies &c. ENTWISTLE, J. April 3, 1957 [Jan. 6, 1956], No. 542/56. Class 87(2). A hand-operated die-moulding machine e.g. a pie-pastry-moulding machine, has a stationary heated die or hollow mould and a complementary hollow mould or die which is non-heated and movable towards or away from the heated member. A non-heated mould holder 32 carries a pie tin 38 and is mounted on a vertically slidable spindle 21 so that by anti-clockwise movement of handle 14 about the axis of a transverse shaft 13, it is raised towards a stationary heated member 24 carrying an interchangeable die 25 complementary to the tin. A crank 15 is located on shaft 13 on said movement, lifts an intermediate lever 17, which is rockably mounted on a transverse pin secured to the base, so that the top of said lever contacts the base of spindle 21 and If its it. The end of the lever 17 adjacent the crank has a curved recess so that when nearly vertical the crank exerts maximum pressure axially of the spindle and the holder 32 decelerates upwardly. A threaded rod (not shown) limits the angular movement of the crank 15 and thus determines the thickness of the pastry. The spindle 21 is moved downwardly by spring 35 and this movement is limited by a projection in the crank engaging a fixed notch. Fig. 4 (not shown), illustrates a hollow die which contains a spring to assist the release of the tin and pastry. Specification 839,741 is referred to.
