Abstract
526,516. Pie-marking machines. BARNETT, C. H., and JACKSON, T. E. March 18, 1939, No. 8702. [Class 87 (ii)] A machine for marking the upstanding peripheral wall of a pie comprises a table or support for the pie and a rotary marking tool adapted to be brought into and out of contact with the pie wall, means being provided to impart relative bodily turning movement between the pie support and the tool. As shown, the pie p, with lid t, is supported within a two-part mould 30 mounted upon a support 2 adapted to be rotated from a shaft 33 through a clutch 52 and worm gearing 48, 49. The marking tool 16 is rotatably carried at the end of a rod 15 slidable through a member 14 pivoted in the upper portion of a bracket 7 adjustable relatively to the mould. The rod 15 is adapted to be lowered and turned to bring the tool into operative position by a handle 28, lever 23 and link 24. A spring 19 tends to depress the rod and a yoke 26a embracing the standard 7 directs its movements. The clutch 52 is normally disengaged by a lever 65 the end 71a of which engages a cam on the support 2, the lever being tripped by a member 73 on a slide 58 which is depressed by a member 56 on the rod 15 to allow the clutch to engage as the tool is brought into operation.
