Abstract

833,320. Cooling pistons. LIST, H., and SCHMIDT G.m.b.H., K. Aug. 7, 1958 [Aug. 13, 1957], No. 25329/58. Class 122 (1). [Also in Group XXII] A piston comprises a body of metal 1 cast around a pipe coil 7 connected to a hollow body 5. During casting, the interior of the sheetmetal body 5 is vented to atmosphere or to a cooling air supply via a pipe 6. The ends of the cooling coil 7 communicate with a bore 8 for the pin bushing 9 and are supplied with oil through bores 12, 13 leading to telescopic pipes. The skirt 2 is secured by screws 20 to the casting 1. The bushing 9 is grooved and bored to receive oil from the oil-feed bore 12.
