Abstract
830,600. Haymaking machines. ZWEEGERS, P. W. July 16, 1958 [Feb. 28, 1958], No. 22879/58. Class 6(3). A haymaking machine comprises two parallel endless chains 17, 18 passed around sprockets 12 and interconnected by spaced transverse tinecarriers 22 pivoted to the chains, adjustable means being provided for altering the inclination of the tines to the chains as they pass the sprockets, these means consisting of pairs of links 28 each having one end connected to a lug 21 on the previous tine carrier and the other end pivoted to the chains adjacent to the pivots of the tine-carriers. The tine-carriers 22 are angle-irons secured to pairs of lugs 21 pivoted on shafts 20 carried by the chains. The links 28 are pivoted between the shafts 20 and alternative studs 25, 26 on the preceding lugs 21, the lugs 25 being employed for side-delivery (full-line position of the tines 23) and the lugs 26 being used for tedding (dotted position 34). The mechanism is mounted on a frame 8 supported, at the rear, on castors 4 and at the front on the tractor hitch-links, the hitch-link connections 44 being arranged so that the plane of the chains is oblique to the direction of travel. The foremost tines 23 are shorter than the remainder and a screen 36 covers the mechanism at the front to prevent entanglement of hay in the chains.
