Abstract
822,178. Hay-making machines. VAN DER LELY N. N., C. Feb. 10, 1956 [Feb. 24, 1955], No. 4250/56. Classes 6(1) and 6(3). An implement for laterally displacing material lying on the ground comprises raking members 40-43 divided into groups, each group being attached to a beam 37 by means of an intermediate frame 44 or 45. The beam 37 is attached to a tractor by means of a shaft 35 rotatably housed in a tube 19 connected indirectly to the lift links of the tractor so that the beam 37 may be rotated through 180 degrees with respect to the tractor and fixed in position by means of the pin 36, such rotation resulting in the side delivery rake shown in Fig. 1 being converted to a tedder as shown in Fig. 4. The frames 44 and 45 are also rotatably mounted on the beam 37, having shafts 50 and 57 rotatably housed in tubes 51 and 58 attached to bars 53 and 60 which are free to slide in the ends of the tube 37. Thus in order to transform the tedder shown in Fig. 4 into a swath turner as shown in Fig. 5, each of the frames 44 and 45 is rotated through 180 degrees and locked in position by means of pins 52 and 59, and in order to adjust the swath turner to the spacing of the swaths being worked, the bars 53 and 60 can be adjusted in the ends of the tube 37 and locked in position by pins 54 and 61. Reference is made in the Specification to the fact that the implement may be used as a cultivator or weeder.
