Abstract
664,117. Hay-rakes. GLIDDON, A. D. S. July 28, 1950 [July 28, 1949], No. 19891/49. Class 6(iii) Relates to a hay-rake of the kind wherein tines 56 are carried by a pair of parallel tubular shafts 14, 15 mounted on a main frame 10 secured to the lifting links of a tractor. According to the invention, the shafts are constructed in three parts, the outer parts 49, 51 being pivoted at their outer ends to bars 46 slidable in guides 45, carried by the central parts so that the outer parts can be swung upwardly, for transport, into a vertical position and then slid inwardly so that their tines extend horizontally above the centre portion of - the rake. The outer sections 49, 51 of the tine-carrying bars have spigots 52 on their - inner ends to fit within the tubes 14 and 15 and further spigots on their outer ends at right-angles to the members 49, 51 to engage the tubes 14 and 15 in the transport position. The main frame carries castor wheels 36 and has connections, such as 33. for the tractor hitch-links. The rake may be swung back pivotally on the main frame (dotted position, Fig. 3) by means of a lever 59 the tines being then cleared by fixed prongs 65 projecting between the tines. ,
