Abstract

748,231. Hay-making. BAMFORDS, Ltd. Aug. 7, 1953 [July 31, 1953], No. 21254/53. Class 6 (3). A side delivery rake and/or swath turner of the kind having a frame 10 supported by groundwheels 18, 19, on which is mounted a pair of reels 13, 14 connected together by tine-carrying rake-bars 15, is characterized in that linkage mechanism is provided for raising and lowering the reels and incorporates adjusting means to allow one reel to be adjusted independently of the other. The invention shown in Fig. 2 is applied to a machine as described in Specification 739,704 in which a hand lever 33 raises or lowers the reels and frame relative to the wheels 18, 19. A turn-buckle 30 is provided to join two links 26, 28. Movement of the turnbuckle lengthens or shortens the effective length of the links 26, 28 which adjusts the height of the reel 14 relative to the reel 13. The invention may be applied to a machine as described in Specification 685,527. Specifications 685,600 and 707,802 also are referred'to.
