Abstract
967,207. Hay-tedders. W. T. TEAGLE. March 21, 1963 [March 21, 1962], No. 10819/62. Heading A1F. In a rotary-drum tedder having a tined drum partly surrounded by a hood 18 and having guide-members at the rear of the hood for converging the discharged crop into a narrow swath, the guide-members are at a fixed inclination and are adjustable by longitudinal movement to vary the swath-width and direction. In the form shown, the guide-members are formed of U-shaped tines 17 received in holes in fixed vertical pillars 16, through which holes the tines are slidable. The tines are locked in position by straps (not shown). The tinedrum comprises tubes 7, carrying tines 8 and being mounted rotatably in bearings in discs 14. The ends of the tubes have integral abutments 13 which rest within flanges on the discs and are encircled by helical springs so that the tubes can deflect temporarily under heavy crop-loads. As shown in Fig. 5, the tines are hairpinshaped and have two alternative positions A, B, set by a pivoted locking-member 15 retained between the bent end of each double tine and the tube 15.
