A haymaking machine has at least two spring-tined rake-heads 6, 6a, each carried on a ground-engaging roller 15 and each driven about an upright axis, the spring tines 10 being guided over part of their rotary path by contact with a controlmember 21 which causes them to rise out of ground-engagement, the ground-roller axle 16 and the control-member 21 of at least one of the rake-heads being connected together so as to be jointly adjustable. The main frame of the machine comprises a gearbox 2 with a transverse boom 3 and an attachment frame 1 for connection to tractor draught-links. Short arms 11 fixed on the ends of the boom carry parallel pivoted links 12 forming a pair of parallelogram linkages which carry the outer rakeheads 6a (only one being shown). The central rake-head is carried by the gearbox 4 and drives the outer heads by beltdrives 23, the shorter distance between driving and driven pulleys in the full-line position (Fig. 3) being taken up by idlers 24. Each control member on an outer rakehead 6a comprises an inclined cam-disc 21 freely rotatable on an inclined bearing keyed to the axle 16 of the ground-roller 15, the axle being secured to the bar 13 forming part of the parallelogram linkage, the arrangement being that the roller 15 always remains parallel to the direction of travel and the inclination of the cam-disc is also invariable relative to this direction. In a modification (Figs. 4 and 5, not shown) the parallelogram linkage 11, 12 is replaced by a hinged arm and each outer rake-head is adjustable manually relative to this arm to maintain the cam-disc and ground-roller in correct relation to the line of draft.
