Abstract
1,078,451. Haymaking machines. PATENT CONCERN N.V. Aug. 19, 1964 [Aug. 29, 1963; Sept. 17, 1963], No. 33981/64. Heading A1F. In a haymaking machine having one or more tined rotors 7, 8 sweeping crop rearwardly, box-like guide-members 19, 20 are provided extending around, and partly below, the path of the tines so that the crop is funnelled into a swath of smaller width than that worked by the machine. In Fig. 2 the rotors extend obliquely downwardly and rearwardly at approximately 45 degrees to the ground and the guide members comprise quadrant-shaped plates surrounded by arcuate flanges 21 which merge into funnel-like deflectors 22, 23 for the discharged crop. The machine comprises a frame consisting of gearboxes 1, 4, 5 interconnected by half-shafts 2, 3, and mounted on tractor draught-linkage by a frame 12-16. In Fig. 4, the rotor comprises a tined drum 29 of skeleton form with arms 30 carrying tine-bars 31. The guide-members comprise rods 45 extending between the tines, the rods being joined to a further member 42A, of funnel-like shape, for discharging the crop in a swath. The upper part of the rotor is surrounded by a hood 29A from the roof of which hang helically-arranged blades 38, 39 to direct the crop towards the mouth of the guide-member 42A. In Fig. 5, the rotors are similar to those in Fig. 1 and are arranged in two pairs connected together by a frame composed of gearboxes 47, 48 and a drive-tube 46. Each rotor is supported on a ground-wheel mounted on an extension of its tine-carrying shaft 60 and the working height of all the units is adjustable by a screw-jack 76 connected between the drawbar 71 and an arm integral with the gearbox 47. The guides comprise a box-like structure 79, 80, 92, 99 surrounding the rear part of the rotors, the parts 99 of the structure being pivotable about hinges 98, 101 and the parts 92 about hinges 90, in order to vary the direction and width of the discharged ribbons of crop.
