In a rotary-drum tedder, drawn by a tractor, the drum 46 is mounted on a horizontal shaft driven by bevel-gears from a second horizontal shaft 49 which can be connected directly to the tractor power take-off. The machine has a frame composed of parallel beams 1, 2 with oblique lateral extensions 3, 45 terminating in forks which carry vertically-adjustable casterwheels 7. One end of the frame is pivoted, at 21, to an attachment-frame 24, 25, 26, 27 carried by tractor hitch-links 78, 79, 80. Two vertically-spaced links 36 connect the attachment-frame to a bracket 38 on the machine-frame. The bevel-gears are housed in a casing 47 and the shaft 49 is splined to receive a telescopic coupling 82 attached to the power take-off. A hood 50 extends over the drum 46 and carries strengthening plates 53 along its rearward edges. Arms 57 (Fig. 6) are pivoted in slots 54 in the plates 53 and carry a beam 56 extending along the rear edge of the hood. Guides 65-68 are pivoted to the beam 56 and can be adjusted fan-wise to control the width and direction of the discharged swath. Vertical adjustment of the guides is effected by pivoting the arms about their pivot-pins 58. When not required, the beam 56 together with the crop-guides can be swung into the dotted position of Fig. 6 by sliding the pins 58 along the slots 54 and pinning the arms 57 to lugs 75 on the hood. The guides 65-68 each comprise divergent rods 69-64, the rods being non- coplanar.
