Abstract

1,055,438. Haymaking machines. MASCHINEN FABRIK FAHR A.G. Oct. 15, 1963 [Oct. 17, 1962], No. 40721/63. Heading A1F. In a haymaking machine comprising a number of pairs of positively driven rake heads rotating about vertical axes, adjacent pairs of rake-heads are offset in the direction of travel as shown in the Figure whereby by rotating the centre heads 7, 8 in the direction of arrows 27 and the outer heads in the direction of arrows 26 only two swaths may be formed from the three pairs of heads. Gear boxes 3, 9 and 12 and frame members 4, 11 and 20 are arranged so that the pairs of heads may be tilted independently of the other pairs. A ground wheel 43 is associated with each rake head. In an embodiment the outer pairs of heads are mounted on a beam separate from that of the centre pair of heads and connected thereto by two bars arranged so that adjustment of the inclination of the centre rake-heads automatically adjusts the inclinations of the outer rake heads. In this case the drive connection between the centre and outer heads is direct by means of a universally pivoted telescopic shaft. In a further embodiment the outer heads are carried on trailing arms pivoted to extensions of the frame beam 4.
