Abstract

1,005,394. Haymaking machines. C. VAN DER LELY N.V. April 6, 1962 [May 4,1961; Aug. 4, 1961], No. 13383/62. Heading AlF. In a rake-wheel type of haymaking machine the frame includes a main frame 1 and a parallel auxiliary beam 2 interconnected by coupling beams 5, 6, 11 which together constitute a parallelogram linkage turnable about vertical pivots 3, 4, 8 the foremost coupling beam 5 being provided with means 83-86 for connection to a tractor 82 so that the front of the implement is laterally immovable relative to the tractor, the implement being movable between working positions by changing the angular setting of the parallelogram linkage. As shown in Fig. 1, the parallelogramlinkage includes intermediate beams 11 which are integral with arms 21 carrying cranks 24 (Fig. 3) supporting the rakewheels 25. The latter are driven by a shaft 29 carried in bearings 28 on the beam 1 and connected to the rake-wheels by beltgearing 46. The shaft is driven by a gearbox 32 having several alternative inputshafts connectible to the tractor power take-off. Two of the coupling beams 5, 67 are laterally extended to carry castors 57, 58, and a third castor 59 is carried by the rear beam 6. The setting of the parallelogram-linkage is determined by a telescopic strut 69 extending obliquely across the rear of the frame. Each rake-wheel crank 24 is integral with an arm 51 connected to the arm 21 by a spring 52. For sidedelivery, the rake-wheels 25 extend nearly parallel to the main beam 1 but for tedding the whole frame 1, 2 is swung through approximately 90 degrees about the pivots 3, 4, when the beams 21 and rake-wheels 23 will be substantially perpendicular to the main beam 1. The front coupling beam 5 carries lugs 83-86 which receive a triangular frame 87 for attachment to the hitch-links 79, 80, 81 the side-members of the frame 87 being returned below the lugs to prevent the implement-frame from swinging downwardly about the axis of the lugs when the power-lift is operated. In Fig. 13 main and auxiliary beams 131, 132 are again inter-connected by cross-beams 136 carrying crank-supported rake-wheels 144A, but the front cross-beam 135 extends on both sides of the main frame and has a series of alternate lugs 180-187 for the attachment of tractor draught-links. The implement has only two castors 203, 212, but a retractable stand 194 may be lowered on the end of the cross-beam 135 when the implement is not tractor-coupled. Both constructions include provision (Fig. 8, not shown) for the front cross-beam (5, 135) to be clamped rigidly to the draw-plate of a tractor. The rake-wheels (Fig. 20) have tines 254 with hooked inner ends 256 which are clamped below plates 258 attached to the hub 251, the outer ends being passed through a rein 260 and bent both rearwardly and laterally out of the plane of the rim. In Fig. 23, the adjusting member for the parallelogram linkage 264, 265, 267 comprises an apertured polygonal plate 301 interconnecting the main and auxiliary beams 264, 265 and carrying a vertical bearing in which the rear castor is vertically adjustable, the adjustment being effected by a cable 309 attached to the upper hitch point 291 of the three-link attachment means, the two lower links being attached to a bar 293 which is connected to extensions of the beams 264, 265 so as to move laterally when the main frame is angled (Fig. 25, not shown). Specification 1,005,395 is referred to.
