Abstract
712,992. Side-delivery rakes. BAMFORDS, Ltd. July 17, 1952 April 19, 1951], No. 9131/51. Class 6 (3) In a side-delivery rake, of the kind comprising a series of parallel vertical rake-wheels arranged in echelon obliquely to the line of travel, some or all of the wheels are coupled together by drive-transmitting means. As shown, five wheels 17-21 are mounted on crank-arms 27 in an open frame 10 trailed by a tractor on castors 42. The two forward and two rear wheels are coupled by rods 41. The centre wheel 19 rotates independently and can be lifted separately to leave the remaining wheels in two spaced groups, for swath-turning. The coupled rake-wheels are lifted in unison for transport, by a cable 37, a lever 36, and cables 32 attached to yokes 29. The rake-wheels carry spring-tines 25 inclined rearwardly to the direction of rotation, and the coupling-rods are arranged at 120 degrees around the wheels to avoid dead-centre effects. In a modification, the coupled wheels are interconnected by chains or V-belts.
