829,991. Lathe and like centres. APPLIED INSTRUMENT & ENGINEERING CO. Ltd. Jan. 9, 1956 [Oct. 9, 1954], No. 27229/54. Class 83 (3). A centre for lathes &c. comprises a shank 10 and a tip 11 pivoted on the shank for adjustment in an arcuate path. The tip, located in a channel member 13 on the shank and including a detachable point 16, is pivotally mounted on a sleeve 20 clamped to the member 13 by a bolt 21 engaging screw-threads on the member 13 and a lock-nut. Stop-screws 23 adjust the tip about the sleeve 20.
