559,039. Steady-rests. COLLINS, G. A. Nov. 9, 1942, No. 15781. [Class 83 (iii)] A roller steady for a lathe comprises a body 2 having a hollow shank 5 and provided with slides 3 for rollers 4 engaging the work 6 while the tool 12 is mounted in a member 9 rotatable in the body for fine adjustment of the tool. In Fig. 1 the adjustment is effected by a screw 17 engaging a shoulder 18 on the member 9 which is then clamped by a screw 14. In a modification, Fig. 5, the member 9 is rotated to adjust the cutter by a screw 20 engaging a sector 19, the screw being rotated by a spindle 22 carrying a graduated dial 21.
