Abstract

778,807. Lathe-details. BASS, K. Jan. 1, 1954 [Jan. 8, 1953], No. 85/54. Class 83 (3). An auxiliary device for turret-lathes, centrelathes or the like, for machining thin work, comprises a tool-holder 12 and a counterbearing 6 which includes two surfaces 8, 9 forming an angle of from 50 to 70 degrees to one another. The holder 12 may be precisely adjusted by a spindle 13 in relation to a member 14 which is pivotally mounted on the base 1 of the device and clamped by a screw 16. Screws 11 enable the tool 10 to be approximately adjusted. The surfaces 8, 9 are plated and preferably form an angle of 50 to 55 degrees with their intersection connected to a lubricant duct 18 in the counterbearing 6 which is adjustably clamped to the base 1 by a bolt 5 and slot 4. A bore 2 and a ascrew 3 enable the base to be adjustably positioned and clamped on the lathe-spindle. The surface 8 preferably forms an angle of 5 to 10 degrees with the tool-axis.
