Abstract
576,858. Tool - holders ; turning. SWINDEN, F. W. May 13, 1944, No. 9200. [Class 83 (iii)] A tool-holding rig having two tools 15, 16 which are adjustable relatively to each other, consists of a shank 1 having a head 2 with an inclined surface 3 and a lateral extension 4, the tool 16 being clamped by set-screws in an aperture 18 in the head. The, tool 15 is similarly clamped in an aperture 17 in a block 6 resting against the extension 4 and clamped to the head 2 by screws 11. A cylindrical pin 9 engages recesses 8, 5 in the inclined faces of the block and head so that the block may be rocked about the pin to adjust the cutting- edges of the tools to an exact distance apart, pairs of spherically faced washers 13 being placed between the head of each screw 11 and the block 6 to accommodate inclination of the block. The range of adjustment may be increased by inserting the tool 15 in a second aperture 17<1> in the block.
