Abstract

874,114. Lathe &c. tools. DAIAN, D. May 20, 1959 [May 20, 1958], No. 17114/59. Class 83 (3). A cutting tool assembly comprises a holder 1 having a groove 6 which together with a clamping plate 3 is of dove-tailed section to receive a bit 7 of similar section, the base 5 of the groove being inclined at the desired rake angle. Plate 3 is secured by a screw 4 and has tapered dowels engaging holes in the holder. The clamping surfaces of the holder or the bit are coated with a soft metal such as copper or nickel which may be applied by electroplating. The clamping surfaces of the other member is left rough or intentionally roughened as by sanding.
