Abstract

810,512. Lathe &c. tools and tool-holders. LIVERPOOL TOOL & GAUGE Ltd. Aug. 12, 1957 [Aug. 10, 1956], No. 24500/56. Class 83 (3). A lathe, planing-machine, &c. tool comprises two parts 10, 11 clamped together, as by bolts 14, and each having a cutting-edge, the edges cutting simultaneously in different planes, e.g. to end-face and bevel. The parts 10, 11 may be tipped, 10a, 10b, with the same cutting material as each other, or different materials may be used, e.g. tungsten-carbide, high-speed steel, &c. Elongated slots 12 and alternative tapped openings 15 for the bolts 14 permit relative adjustment of the parts 10, 11, which are formed with sloping faces 10b, 11b of the order of 2 degrees, providing a clearance 16 for the tip 10a. Spring-washers may be fitted beneath the heads of the bolts 14. In various combinations (Figs. 7-11, not shown), the part 10 is constituted as a facing, parting-off or forming tool, and the part 11 as a forming or bevelling- tool; one part may be formed arcuate.
