Abstract

1,248,246. Milling. cutters. MOLINS MACHINE CO. Ltd. 12 March, 1969 [13 March, 1968], No. 12119/68. Heading B3K. The cutters in a set of milling cutters have cutting edges which formvarious arcs of a common circle, the radius of. each cutter being less than that of the circle. Each cutter can be used by repeated traverses to machine an approximately flat surface inclined to the cutter axis at an angle within a given range and the cutters of a set are designed so that the range for one cutter partly overlaps the range for another. Thus the set: of cutters provides for machining flat surfaces inclined to the cutter axis over a wide range of angles, e.g. 0 to 90 degrees or more.
