Abstract

541,162. Turning. COLE, S. W., and SMART, & BROWN (ENGINEERS), Ltd. Sept. 18, 1940, No. 14311. [Class 83 (iii)] Boring &c. tool holders for use in lathes have improved clamping and guiding means for the adjustable tool block. A bifurcated head 1 has a shank 2 to engage either a rotary spindle or a tailstock. The tool is secured by a screw 12 in a seat 11 in a block adjustable by a screw 5 with a graduated collar. The block has V-formations 13 engaging corresponding formations in the head, the formations mutually engaging on the sides of the vees only. Clamping is effected by a cross screw 9 passing through a clearance slot 10 in the block and located in a mid-position relatively to the vees.
