Abstract

1,232,468. Turret lathes. PITTLER MASCHINENFABRIK A.G. 9 Aug., 1968 [18 Aug., 1967], No. 38085/68. Heading B3T. A turret lathe comprises a work spindle 1 a polygonal indexable tool turret 5 having two or more tool mounting positions on each face thereof, the turret being mounted on a carriage 4 which is movable parallel to and transversely to the spindle axis and the turret being indexable about an axis at right angles to the spindle axis and to the transverse direction of movement of the carriage 4. Stops (not shown) may be provided to determine the limits of cross travel of the carriage to permit correct location of the tools 7 and 8 with respect to the spindle axis. The tools may be arranged to effect machining of a workpiece at the same time and a third tool such as a drill 10 may be simultaneously operative. In an alternative embodiment one of the stops may be omitted and the slide connected to a copying device 17, 18 which carries one template for each face of the turret. The tools may be individually located and adjustable on a slide on the respective faces of the turret.
